The brand officially launched in the US in March, with a line-up comprising a cleanser, serum, face cream, and tablet supplement.

The decision to introduce a range that combines topical and ingestible products stems from the need to “nourish from inside out” amid the booming beauty-from-within category.

“I believe that true skin health comes from a combination of internal and external care. People often think skin is all about vanity, but our skin is the largest organ in our body and as such, it is a reflection of our overall health. While topical products are essential, they can only do so much if we’re not nourishing ourselves from within. This is especially true when it comes to fighting inflammation, which is the root cause of 80% of skin and health issues.

“That’s why we launched a four-step skin care range inclusive of our An Apple A Day supplement — consumers can experience the full benefits of apple-derived ultra-antioxidants, whether applied to the skin or ingested. This holistic approach sets us apart in the beauty and wellness space. We don’t just want to address the appearance of the skin; we want to be functional and therapeutic from the cellular level,” Dr Vincent Candrawinata, food scientist and founder of Vincent, told NutraIngredients-Asia.

Dr Candrawinata added that consumers are becoming more educated about the connection between nutrition and skin health, and that there is a growing demand for solutions that address beauty and wellness from the inside out.

“Australia has been at the forefront of this movement, and I see immense potential for expansion. People no longer just want products that mask skin issues — they want scientifically backed solutions that work at a cellular level to promote long-term health and radiance.” Particularly in the US, consumers are looking for science-driven, natural solutions that deliver real results.

“Our products are backed by extensive research, made with clean ingredients, and designed to support both inner and outer health.

“The emphasis on sustainability and efficacy will resonate with American consumers who are seeking simple, high-quality, multi-benefit skin care and supplements. We’re excited to introduce them to the power of ultra-antioxidants and experience the difference our routine can bring to their health!”

Vincent’s products are sold in the US via its website and Amazon. They are also available at 2,000 retailers across Australia and Asia.

Right now, the brand’s focus is on “making a strong impact” in the US.

“We do see potential for expansion into other key markets. Health is universal and global, and we want to be the best solution people turn to when it comes to looking after their health and well-being.”

Unlocking potential of apples

The key to Vincent’s innovation is apples, widely recognised as a potent source of antioxidants.

Through a patented technology, “ultra-antioxidants” (broad-spectrum antioxidants), also known as activated phenolics, are extracted from Australian apples without the use of chemical solvents to ensure their purity and effectiveness.

“I have always been passionate about science and its ability to improve lives. Food is at the centre of this because I truly believe that what we eat is either going to nourish us or harm us. During my research at the University of Newcastle, I discovered the incredible potential locked inside apples — the phenolic antioxidants.

“Although phenolics and their potential health benefits are well studied, there wasn’t a way to extract and activate them naturally. I invented a technology that enables a water-based extraction process, which allows us to harness these powerful antioxidants without using chemical solvents.”

According to Dr Candrawinata, it took several years of dedicated research and development to refine the technology.

One of the biggest challenges was finding a way to extract phenolics in their most bioavailable form. Traditional methods have resulted in antioxidants that are not compatible with the human biological system and can cause harm by turning the antioxidant into pro-oxidant (a substance that induces oxidative stress).

“My technology allows for the extraction of activated phenolics that are compatible with our body, bioavailable, and absorbable.

“It was a rigorous journey, but the breakthrough was worth it. I was awarded my PhD, secured patent protection, and successfully applied this technology to create the world’s first ultra-antioxidants, which are the foundation of our products.”

Unlike other antioxidants, activated phenolics have more than 90% absorption rate, be it consumed as a supplement or applied topically as a skin care product.

On a personal note, Dr Candrawinata said that he was inspired to start the company and bring the range of products to the masses after his PhD research, as the activated phenolics were found to alleviate his grandmother’s severe arthritis pain during initial trials.

Repair and reverse

Vincent’s skin care products are formulated to protect elastin and collagen structures, leading to a glowing, youthful-looking complexion. They also claim to be gluten-free, vegan, and suitable for all skin types, including sensitive skin.

Due to its pH-balancing ability, the Face Cleanser supports the skin’s natural microbiome, while the Face Cream contains bioactive hyaluronic acid to promote intensive skin renewal and yield an anti-ageing effect.

The Face Serum stimulates collagen synthesis, helping to smooth wrinkles and fine lines. It is also said to provide heat and stress shock protection, which is a natural defence system against stress-induced damage that takes place in the cells.

Each serving of the An Apple a Day supplement delivers the equivalent benefits of 20 apples, with a 93% absorption rate.

“This is what enables the ultra-antioxidants to efficiently repair cells, reducing pain and inflammation, supporting the body’s natural healing process, and improving the appearance of damaged and pigmented skin. This daily supplement also helps in maintaining healthy digestion, cholesterol, blood sugar and energy levels.”
