Smith vs. Germain Fight Card: Dalton Smith

Dalton Smith (17-0 with 13 knockouts) turned pro in 2019. During his brief career he has shown a penchant for racking up knockouts. The 28-year-old enters Saturday’s card with finishes in his past three outings. In his most recent bout, Smith stopped Walid Ouizza in the first round of their January 2025 matchup.

In three minutes, Smith showed everything that has fans and pundits excited about his rise up the ranks. Smith displayed speed, power, excellent shot selection and a gift for finishing in his brief time in the ring with the overmatched Ouizza.

With that win, Smith won the vacant European light-welterweight title and retained the WBC Silver light-welterweight title.

Smith did not need to take this fight. He is the mandatory challenger for the WBC junior welterweight title that Alberto Puello won with a split decision victory over Sandor Martin in March.

“I mean, I could have [waited], but I just wanted to stay active, I wanted to keep that momentum going,” Smith told BoxingScene. “So, we said, ‘Look, if we can get the arena’ – we couldn’t get the Sheffield arena, but got the smaller one – I want to stay active and, yeah, like I say, it’s going to put me in good stead. I want to stay active, put a good performance in and then chase that WBC title.”

Smith is ranked No. 11 by the WBO, No. 10 by the IBF, and No. 1 by the WBC in the 140-pound division.

Smith vs. Germain Fight Card: Mathieu Germain

Mathieu Germain (26-2-1 with 11 KOs) turned pro in 2015. The 35-year-old Canadian is on an eight-fight winning streak with his past two outing ending via knockout. His most recent win was a seventh-roud stoppage over Carlos Aquino in January of this year.

“It’s a fight – he’s coming to knock my head off, so that’s a big enough threat there,” Germain said. “But, I just feel like I’m coming into the better years of my career now. I feel like in the next couple of years, I’m going to come into my prime. I just feel like I’m going to be able to show my level. I’m going to put on a great performance and I think it’s going to be a stamp to say, ‘Look, this is why I’m number one mandatory for the WBC.’”

Germain is ranked No. 14 by the IBF.
