Dutch studio MVRDV designed the Portlantis exhibition centre, which also functions as a viewing tower overlooking the Port of Rotterdam in the Netherlands.
A winding red staircase spirals around the centre, linking visitors from the beachfront entrance to a rooftop terrace designed as a panoramic viewpoint.

This week’s newsletter also covers the news that Apple has filed a patent for a foldable Apple Watch with two screens, a concrete home built on a sloping site in Portugal, and the Butterfly skyscraper in Vancouver by Revery Architecture.
