Drake Maye’s amazing buzzer-beater touchdown starts his legend for the Patriots

The NFL’s rookie quarterback class has been off to a great start during the 2024 season. No. 1 overall pick Caleb Williams has had some big games for the Chicago Bears after being selected with the No. 1 overall pick. No. 2 pick Jayden Daniels has been sensational for the Washington Commanders, and is likely well on his way to winning Rookie of the Year. Drake Maye was taken by the New England Patriots with the No. 3 pick, and after beginning his season on the bench, he’s fully coming into his own as a starter in recent weeks.

The Patriots were trailing the Tennessee Titans by a touchdown on their final drive of the game in Week 9. Maye matched them down deep inside the red zone, but still needed to punch the ball in for a touchdown on the last play of regulation. Maye extended the play with the Titans pass rush coming after him, and somehow found running back Rhamondre Stevenson for the game-tying touchdown. Watch the play here:

Maye threw an interception to end the game in overtime. Titans win:

Williams and Daniels have gotten so much attention so far this season, but don’t sleep on Maye. He has all the tools to be a franchise QB for the Patriots.

Maye ended regulation with 206 yards pass, one TD, and one interception. He’s just getting started.
