White House National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby announced the pauses — which will start Thursday — in a press conference, saying they would be announced three hours in advance by the Israeli Defense Forces so civilians know when it is safe to relocate, according to NBC News.
Kirby said there would be no military operations in fighting areas in the Northern Gaza Strip during the pauses.
News of the daily pauses came after reports that the U.S., Israel and Qatar were potentially negotiating a three-day pause in fighting, and as calls for a ceasefire continued to increase.
