You know I love a good project. I think a professional-looking DIY is nothing short of magic. I’m also a big fan of hiring out jobs that are too tedious, tiring, or technical. The bottom line is: Any project — DIY or contracted — is only as good as its materials. When I see an inspiring transformation, I go straight for the source notes. Where did she get that tile? Who makes that range hood? Is that pot filler an antique??
More and more, I see high-end-looking projects sourced entirely at Lowe’s. Now, I’m saying high-end looking because these prices are good. It’s so exciting and refreshing to see rooms that look like a million bucks… that don’t cost anywhere near that.
I’m pinning a few of my favorites below. These are inspirations that have knocked my socks off and projects that continue to inspire me. I’ll keep adding to this post, so drop a note in the comments if there’s a Lowe’s project out there that’s worthy of a huge round of a applause.
Room for Tuesday’s dark and moody kitchen makes me swoon. Every detail is so thought-out and intentional, and Sarah is a wealth of information and inspiration. She sourced every last inch of it at Lowe’s (including those herringbone floors), and my jaw is still on the floor. Everything looks so custom!
The Makerista’s laundry room is the stuff of legends. The most sophisticated blue, the most romantic toile, the most classic tile… this room is so aspirational. I had the pleasure of doing a Lowe’s project with Gwen in 2000, and her taste is impeccable. She definitely has the touch.
Traci Hutcherson’s (Beneath My Heart) exterior makeover is such a breath of fresh air. (And when you see the Before, it’ll knock the wind out of you.) I especially love the warm wood double doors and the herringbone brick pavers. I also really appreciate how she opened this space up — extending the porch for additional living space. This looks like the entry to a very sophisticated Bed & Breakfast or an expensive lodge.
Jenna Sue promises “bold luxury on a budget,” and then she *fully* delivers. Is that textured plaid tile a paid actor?! The champagne gold and brass just sing in this space, and I’ve never seen a wood beam better executed in a bathroom. She did this whole space for $3,500. (Are you screaming?!)
