The Tennessee Titans made Tyjae Spears the fifth running back selected in the 2023 NFL Draft with they selected him out of Tulane with the No. 81 overall pick during the third round. Spears has mostly backed up Tony Pollard in his second pro season, and he had only gotten into the end zone once on the year entering Tennessee’s Week 15 game against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Spears found the end zone again on Sunday, and it happened to be one of the coolest touchdowns of the season.
On a goal line carry in the first quarter, Spears attempted to jump over the line, and reached the football out as far as he could. Spears’ extra effort got him the score to put the Titans’ briefly ahead in the game. Watch Spears’ TD here:
This is the Michael Jordan ‘Space Jam’ dunk in real life. We love to see it.
Sadly, the good times couldn’t last: QB Will Levis was eventually benched, and the Bengals beat the Titans, 37-27.
The still images of Spears’ TD are even cooler:
Spears only gained five yards on his four carries against Cincy, but that one of them resulted in an amazing touchdown. By the way, he also added 87 yards receiving on six receptions, and also scored a touchdown through the air. Not a bad day of work for the young running back despite the loss.
