ForbesToday’s NYT Mini Crossword Clues And Answers For Thursday, April 17th

Well, it’s my last day (for the time being) penning these NYT Mini Crossword guides. I’ll be back in two weeks, which will put us right at the beginning of May. As it happens, it looks like we’re going to get rain soon. April showers bring May flowers and all that. I’ll see you when the flowers bloom. Now let’s solve this Mini!

The NYT Mini is a smaller, quicker, more digestible, bite-sized version of the larger and more challenging NYT Crossword, and unlike its larger sibling, it’s free-to-play without a subscription to The New York Times. You can play it on the web or the app, though you’ll need the app to tackle the archive.

Spoilers ahead!

ACROSS

1- Lack of practice, metaphorically — RUST

5- The width of your thumb, if you need a rough approximation — INCH

Play Puzzles & Games on Forbes

6- It has many private entries — DIARY

8- Disc golfer’s obstacle — TREE

9- Emoji that can mean “I’m intrigued” — EYES

DOWN

1- Dispose (of) — RID

2- Bring together — UNITE

3- Like graveyards at night — SCARY

4- Shortest allowable number of letters for a New York Times crossword answer — THREE

7- “Totally with you!” — EYES

I wasn’t sure about a couple of the early words today, but I worked my way through, guessing correctly that a thumb is about an INCH and knowing with certainty, after years of avid disc golf play, that a TREE is your greatest obstacle. I also plugged in UNITE and THREE and pretty soon the rest came together. This one took me 1:18 to complete.

How did you do? Let me know on Twitter, Instagram or Facebook.

If you also play Wordle, I write guides about that as well. You can find those and all my TV guides, reviews and much more here on my blog. Thanks for reading!
